Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.

Elizabeth Gilbert

Can't wait to read Elizabeth's new big fat novel - The Signature of All Things

  1. What a great perspective - happiness is a consequence of personal effort! So true. I wish I could write as eloquently as you do. You really know how to say/speak the heart! xo

  2. Gorgeous photos dear Susan, the heather is so pretty, love your house and kitchen, Miss Winnie I see is out walking again and I love all of those kissable, kitty paws. How is itty Bitty Betty, napping somewhere I guess?
    Love and hugs
